Love and Its Conditional Expressions

The term "love" can be described as the expression of the divine and internal impulse of the human. It is rooted in knowing, fostered by selfless service, and refined by the wisdom." The pure love is the highest form of respect, trust, and love, and transcends the limitations of feelings and the circumstances. The ancient Greeks as Agape, it's the force that keeps the diverse forms of love. The book New Testament Words: The most virtuous of virtues, William Barclay explains: "Agape is a matter of the mind. It is not just an emotion that arises in our hearts without warning but a fundamental concept that guides us to live our lives.Agape is inexplicably connected to do with our will."

The attitude of love that is personal is rooted in devotion to human and divine duty.It awakens the inexhaustible and beneficial desire to do the best for other people and manifests itself through an unselfish and loving manner. The depth of our love and the strength of the expression of it is dependent on our understanding of Deity and our effort to enhance the qualities of divinity, as well as our openness to the guidance of the indwelling Spirit.

Contrary to the volatility of emotions, or the fickleness of love, pure love is dependable to be forgiving, trustworthy sincere, compassionate, and honest.A powerful romantic description of the love can be located in 1 Corinthians 13:4'7 (New American Standard Bible): "Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."If love is not present, all other virtues are diminished in their power.

The cultivation of unconditional love is essential. The process of love must be a continual readingaptative understanding of relationships that are guided by the guidance from The Spirit of Truth. If the human mind can understand the ever-growing ideas of the most spiritual good of the person whom it loves, the love will continue to manifest the same way with respect to everyone else.

There are a variety of emotions of human affection that are instinctual and, unless they are cultivated they are often conditional

1.The inherent love or affection that people share was described by the early Greeks as phileo. It arises from benevolence or shared interest.A majority of friendships are based on the phileo. It's the kind of love that says: "I like you if ..."

2.Family love, which also includes parental love, was described in the Greeks as Storge.Storge is a powerful bonding and protective love for objects, animals, or even a person.Storge is a living being who has a strong sense of duty , and is usually willing to commit suicide to safeguard the love they feel.Storge is a kind of conditional love which says: "I love you because I should."The power and dedication of storge can be correlated to the desire of the beloved one. It can be hindered by external influences such as selfishness, ambition or religious beliefs.

3.Physical attraction, also known as eros in the time of the ancient Greeks is the chemical reactionthat causes the sex desire, the love between two individuals."Notwithstanding the personality gulf between men and women, the sex urge is sufficient to insure their coming together for the reproduction of the species.

This instinct operated effectively long before humans experienced much of what was later called love, devotion, and marital loyalty."Eros is often confused with love, and is therefore frequently misused.Without storge and phileo Eros is passion, a sexual desire that, when not controlled, can destroy the lives of individuals, with its effects reaching out to families and the society.

However, the sexual urge is the trigger that ultimately results in romance.Eros transcends the stage of romance with the help of phileo, the storge, and agape which aids in maintaining the bonds of friendship and spirituality that long-term relationships demand.
